Justice Advocacy Service
The Justice Advocacy Service (JAS) provides support to people with a cognitive impairment in the criminal justice system. This includes, victims, witnesses, suspects and defendants.
We have a broad consideration of what a cognitive impairment is. Specifically, we include:
- Intellectual Disability
- Borderline Intellectual Functioning
- Dementia, Acquired Brain Injury
- FASD
- Autism Spectrum Disorder
Our assistance focusses on providing a trained support person to attend police stations (24/7 on call service) legal meetings and court (in person and via AVL) with the client to help them understand what is happening.
