Whether you're looking to celebrate the city's heritage or just catch up with friends and chat about the good old days, you're sure to be in fine company at the 2021 John Reid Memorial Heritage Awards and dinner.

The three-course dinner and award ceremony will be held in the historic Old Brewery on Saturday, April 3.

Attendees will dine and celebrate in historic surrounds and be regaled with tales of the past by well-known local businessman and personality, Neville Bent.

The dinner is one of a number of events being held as part of the 2021 Heritage Festival between April 1 and April 4.

The Festival kicks off from 7pm on Thursday April 1, with the ever-popular Heritage Highlights display which will see a range of historic local images from the Outback Archives projected onto the rear of the iconic Town Hall Facade with an accompaniment of classic music.

The nostalgic experience can be perfectly complemented with a traditional milkshake from the Bells Milk Bar van which will be on site across the weekend during the Heritage Highlights displays.

The photo displays will run between 7pm-11pm from April 1 to April 3, and from 6pm-10pm on April 4 (due to daylight savings).

Other highlights on the Heritage Festival calendar include Heritage Walk Tours, a 'Secrets and Scandals' bus and walk tour through the historic Broken Hill Cemetery with Deputy Mayor Christine Adams, and an exhibition of works by controversial Labor cartoonist Claude Marquet.

In addition, the Outback Archives will be open to the public without appointment on Thursday 1 April and Saturday 3 April, and various murals around the city will come to life using augmented reality.

Viewers are encouraged to download the EyeJack app on their phone and use it on the murals at the train station, along with the 'Karaoke', 'Dinner', and 'Creation' murals on the walls of the Centre For Community.
