2018 Pro Hart Outback Art Prize Opening

A handful of local artists are amongst the finalists selected for this year's Pro Hart Outback Art Prize.

31 artists were selected from amongst 313 entries, with locals Jim Paterson, Dave Doyle, Jason McCarthur, Verity Nunan, Alexandra Rosenblum, and Asma Mather all making the cut.

The Prize consists of an Acquisitive First Prize, a Non-Acquisitive Second Prize and a People’s Choice Award with a total prize pool of $23,000.

The winners will be announced at a gala evening event at the Broken Hill Regional Art Gallery on September 30.

Council's Manager Gallery and Museum, Blake Griffiths, said it was great to have the Prize running again.

"We had to cancel the event in 2021 due to COVID-19, but it has bounced back spectacularly," said Mr Griffiths.

"We had an amazing array of entries as always, and it's great see that around 20 per cent of finalists are locals.

"We look forward to seeing everyone there on September 30, it's going to be a very big evening."

The 2022 Pro Hart Outback Art Prize will be judged the co-Editors of Fine Print Magazine, Rayleen Forester and Joanna Kitto.

The event is made possible with the generous support of Raylee J Hart & the Hart family in honour of Pro Hart.
