Huge Pageant party planned, but more floats needed

Mayor Tom Kennedy has called on local businesses and groups make a special effort for the city's kids in the lead up to the traditional Christmas Pageant.
The Christmas Pageant will take place on December 3, with the float parade commencing from 6pm.
Nominations for the Pageant opened on November 4, and Council has received a slow and steady number of float nominations to date.
However Mayor Kennedy said it would we great to see locals put in a special effort to make the Pageant as big as possible.
"We have enough entries to run the event, but we'd like it to be much bigger for children and their families," he said.
"It's a great tradition and it means a lot to the kids, so hopefully we get a late run of nominations and make it a Pageant to remember.
"The pageant is still a week-and-a-half away so there's still plenty of time to get a float together and put in a nomination.
“Council staff will keep the nominations open for as long as possible in the lead up to the event to give everyone a chance to enter."
The Pageant will be complemented by a Christmas Afterparty in Sturt Park featuring live music from acclaimed family entertainers The Sulli-Vans (as seen on The Voice: Generations) and Get Your Groove On.
The afterparty will also feature a merry-go-round, food and drink stalls, a visit from Santa, and the ever-popular twilight community markets.
Anyone wishing to enter a float in the Pageant should contact Council's Events team as soon as possible at events@brokenhill.nsw.gov.au.
