March for Reconciliation
Published on 25 May 2023
Locals are invited to join in a March from Town Square to Sturt Park on May 29 to celebrate National Reconciliation Week.
Reconciliation Week runs from 27 May to 3 June and is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each person can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.
The March will begin at midday and finish in the park with a smoking ceremony, free sausage sizzle, and a 'Sea Of Hands' display.
The Sea of Hands allows attendees to plant a cardboard hand in the ground to create a colourful display in support of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and the spirit of reconciliation.
Motorists are advised that there will be disruptions to traffic in Chloride and Argent Streets as the march makes its way to the park.
