Council is inviting locals with an interest in the city's future to join new working groups focusing on major projects.

Nominations are now open for those wishing to join the Project Consultative Group and Gateway Signage Advisory Group.

The aim of the Project Consultative Group is to provide local knowledge, consultation, communication, advice, and guidance to the planning stages of major projects and the upgrading of existing infrastructure.

Meanwhile the Gateway Signage Advisory Group will offer advice and suggestions on current and future gateway signage on the perimeter of the city.

Council's General Manager, Jay Nankivell, said the groups would be an ideal way for locals to have input into significant Council initiatives.

"The elected Council has a strong focus on community input and these new groups are a great way for people to lend their expertise to new and existing projects," said Mr Nankivell.

"I'd encourage anyone with a passion for the city or an interest in major projects to nominate."

There are six community positions available on the Project Consultative Group and at least six community members are needed for the Gateway Signage Advisory Group.
