Last night's Extraordinary Meeting was preceded by an address from local Police who informed Council that volunteer roadblocks to restrict access to the Far West should not be considered.

The Police also clarified that the Local Emergency Management Committee (LEMC) did not have the power to restrict access to the Far West as each Local Government Area (eg Central Darling Shire, Unincorporated Area) have their own LEMC responsible for that region.

During the extraordinary meeting Councillor Tom Kennedy moved that Council again lobby the Government to restrict travel to the Far West.

The motion was supported with an amendment which stated that the motion also be forwarded to the local LEMC.

Last night's meeting was held by teleconference, and Council will upload the video to its 'live streams' page later today. Past meetings can be found here.
