After Hours Stray Dog Drop Off Service

Council has commenced trialling a stray dog drop off service on weekends and public holidays between 9.30am - 10.30am and 4pm - 5pm. The drop off service will operate from Council's Companion Animal Shelter located in the airport precinct between the main terminal and RFDS.

Residents are required to press the buzzer at the gates of the Animal Shelter on arrival and a Council Officer will respond and take possession of the stray dog. This initiative has been introduced to assist in supporting companion animal management across the City and provide residents with an option for stray dogs outside of the Shelter's normal operating hours.

Release of animals will remain strictly Monday to Friday and is not available on weekends or public holidays.

IMPORTANT TO NOTE: There is no public access to the Animal Shelter during these times. Animals are not to be left unattended at the Animal Shelter. In accordance with the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1979, penalties will apply.
